What kind of retirement are you aiming for?
Pick a lifestyle or set your own target. Figures are per year, after tax, in today's money, based on the independent Retirement Living Standards (Pensions UK, 2026) for a single person.

Please choose a lifestyle or enter a target of at least £5,000.
Why "today's money" matters — the price of a pint
Prices creep up over time. Drag the slider to see what everyday things could cost by the time you're retired, assuming 2.5% inflation a year (typical UK prices, approximate).

£100 today would only buy £61 worth of goods in 20 years — that's why we show everything in today's money.
How do you feel about investment risk?
Three quick questions — we'll suggest an illustrative growth style for your projection. This is a taster, not a real risk assessment: in a full review we assess your attitude to risk and your capacity for loss properly.

Important: these growth rates are examples only, chosen to show how risk changes the picture. Real returns could be lower or higher than any of them — and in some years negative. Past performance never guarantees the future.

Stress test on: markets fall 10% a year (before inflation) in your first three years of retirement, then your chosen growth style resumes. This is sequence-of-returns risk — a smooth average hides it, and poor early returns do disproportionate damage. A full review stress-tests your plan properly against many scenarios.
Life expectancy: a 65-year-old in the UK today can typically expect to live to around 85–88, and roughly 1 in 4 will reach their 90s (ONS estimates) — so we plan to age 95 by default for a safety margin. Slide it up or down to see the effect.
