B Corp Status

We’re proud to announce that Celtic Financial Planning has achieved B Corporation certification, becoming what we believe is the first Chartered financial planning firm in Wales to do so.

This is a significant milestone for us, and one that reflects the values we’ve tried to build the business around from the very beginning.

What is B Corp?

B Corporation certification is awarded by B Lab to companies that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.

It’s not just about what a company does, it’s about how it operates across every part of the business, from governance and client service to employee wellbeing, community engagement and environmental impact.

To become certified, companies must complete a rigorous assessment and achieve a minimum score of 80. We’re pleased to share that we scored 90.8, which honestly exceeded our expectations.

A quick journey built on years of groundwork

We started the certification process in October 2025, and many companies take 18 months or more to complete it. The fact that we achieved certification so quickly isn’t because we cut corners, it’s because so much of what B Corp looks for was already part of how we work.

When we founded Celtic Financial Planning, we set out to create a business we’d want to work in ourselves. That meant doing things differently from day one.

What this means in practice

B Corp status recognises the work we’ve been doing across a number of areas:

Environment

We’ve maintained a carbon positive position for several years, meaning we offset more emissions than we produce. All of our office electricity comes from renewable providers, and since 2019 we’ve planted 2,385 native trees in partnership with North Wales Wildlife Trust.

Our team

We operate a four-day working week with no reduction in pay. We believe that looking after our team means they can look after our clients better, and that a healthy work-life balance shouldn’t be a luxury.

Our clients

As part of our advice process, we discuss environmental, social and governance (ESG) and ethical investment preferences with every client. A proportion of client funds are invested in solutions that align with these values.

Our community

We continue to support local charities, community groups and grassroots sport across North Wales. Being part of the communities we serve has always been important to us.

What’s next?

This isn’t the end point for us, it’s a foundation to keep building on.

We’re already exploring new ways to do more, including the possibility of creating a community woodland to support local schools, charities and community groups.

B Corp certification gives us a framework to keep measuring and improving our impact. We don’t have everything figured out, but we’re committed to keep doing better, for our clients, our team and the wider community.
