Jamie vs 13.1 Miles
If you’ve been following Celtic Financial Planning for a while, you’ll know we’re big on supporting our local community. This time, though, we’re doing it in a slightly more… sweaty way.
On 28th June 2026, Jamie Hughes will be taking on the Nova Half Marathon in Prestatyn – that’s 13.1 miles.
Voluntarily.
With no one chasing him.
Jamie describes it best:
“In June, I will be attempting something that past-me would have laughed at, current-me is mildly terrified of, and future-me will hopefully be very proud of: a half marathon. That’s 13.1 miles. On purpose. With no one chasing me.”
Why he’s doing it
What started as a personal challenge (to prove he can do hard things and not “simply lie down halfway through”) has turned into something much bigger.
Jamie is raising funds for Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith, a charity that provides care and support for children with life-shortening conditions and their families across our region. While Jamie’s preparing himself for sore legs and questionable life choices, Tŷ Gobaith is supporting families facing challenges that put everything into perspective.
Or, as Jamie puts it: he’ll be dealing with “a deep hatred of hills”, and the charity will be there for families dealing with the things that really matter.
What your donation supports (and what it powers)
Jamie’s training plan includes all the glamorous stuff you’d expect:
-
early mornings
-
long runs
-
blisters
-
snacks (probably lots of snacks)
…and, for legal reasons, we will simply note that Jamie has mentioned “chafing” but we will not be asking follow-up questions.
Every donation, big or small, helps Hope House & Tŷ Gobaith continue the amazing work they do every day. And if we’re being honest, it will also helps keep Jamie moving when he’s questioning his life choices somewhere around mile 9.
If you want to find out more about the amazing work Hope House & Tŷ Gobaith do, take a look at their website – what an amazing group of people!
Want to help Jamie over the finish line?
If you can spare a few pounds, Jamie would be hugely grateful, and more importantly, you’ll be supporting a brilliant local charity doing life-changing work.

And if donating isn’t possible right now, a message of support (or cheering from the sofa) is also very much accepted.
Thank you for supporting Jamie, and for supporting Hope House & Tŷ Gobaith. It genuinely means the world.
